How to use the data entry tool (text instructions)

Below are instructions for downloading and installing Epi Info and entering data using the pre-prepared data entry tool

Download and install Epi Info

You will first need to install Epi Info 7, a free piece of software. Go to this link to download the installer.¬†Once downloaded, open the installer on a Windows computer and install it. Epi Info currently doesn’t work on Macs.

Enter data using the pre-prepared data entry tool

If you open Epi Info after installing it, you will see this screen:

Click on the ‘Enter data’ button. On the next screen you’ll see a button that says ‘Open Form’ in the top left. Click on that.

Then a box will open and you will need to find the .prj file you downloaded for your country from the toolkit. This file is in the same place with the questionnaire and the analysis files. Where it is depends on where you saved it in your computer.

Then you’ll see there’s only one form to choose from – the form for your country. Selectthat and then click on ‘okay’.

Now you should see the data entry form that corresponds to the questionnaire for your country.

You can start entering data. To go to the next field, tap the ‘Tab’ button on your computer.
