Analysing with EpiInfo (text instructions)

It might be easier to follow the instructions in the video in Step 9, but if your internet connection doesn’t allow this, below are text instructions:

You should at this stage have entered all the data from your questionnaires to the data entry tool. Now we are going to analyse that data to figure out what percentage of clients fall into each national wealth quintile. You can either use Epi Info, STATA or SPSS to do this. These instructions are for Epi Info.

First you should open Epi Info and click on the ‘Classic’ button:

In the next screen, you will see the word ‘Read’ in the top left. Click on that.

In the box that pops up, click on the button to find Data Source as shown here:

Now find your PRJ file and select it and click okay.

Then select the form you entered data to (there should be only one form to choose from:

select your formNow you have done that, click on the ‘Open Pgm’ button:

click on open formAgain you should find your PRJ file under ‘Project File’, and then where it says ‘Program’, select the program for your country – there should be only one option. When you have done that, click prg from file

Now click on ‘Run Commands’.

click on run commandsIf you were careful not to change any question codes or response codes in the questionnaire and you entered data to the data entry tool correctly, Epi Info should now show you the percentage of clients falling into each wealth quintile, and a pie chart. If that doesn’t happen, please contact us to we figure out what’s gone wrong!
